Updating Details in Mailchimp

After creating surveys or any other lead magnets it is worth updating the customer first names in the Beer Cartel email address list so that when they receive future emails they are then addressed by their name e.g. Hi Frank,

To do this do the following:

1. Open the excel file of the data collected

2. Do a Text to Columns to remove anyone that also added their last name

3. Use the =proper(text) function to ensure all names are capitalised

4. Copy first name and email for list, plus Source

5. In Mailchimp>List>Beer Cartel List>select import contacts

6. Choose Copy and paste from file

7. Past in customers first name, email & source

8. Click button I understand my billing will be upgraded and click next

9. Select the appropriate field for First Name andSource and click next

10. Choose Subscribers > Add contacts to General Newsletter Group (or alternative group as appropriate)

11. Choose Import

To then update the first names

1. Copy first name and email for list, EXCLUDING Source

2. In Mailchimp>List>Beer Cartel List>select import contacts

3. Choose Copy and paste from file

4. Past in customers first name & email

5. Click button I understand my billing will be upgraded and click next

6. Select the appropriate field for First Name

7. Choose Subscribers > Add contacts to General Newsletter Group (or alternative group as appropriate)

8. Choose Import

9. Select auto-update list - this should then add in any first names for subscribers that were previously missing or incorrect.

Process complete.
