When a breakages occurs or there is a spill on the floor ensure that it is cleaned up properly to avoid smells, flies and sticky floors. Use the following process.
Cleaning Floors
1. Place a "Wet Floor" sign at the area where the spill is.
2. Move any objects nearby so as to be able to access the spill completely.
3. Place any damaged items / cardboard boxes etc into the waste bin, "boxing" up any glass to avoid exposed shards of glass etc. You can use the gloves near the roller door to pick up larger shards of glass.
4. Sweep any smaller pieces of glass with the dust pan and brush.
5. Prepare the mop and bucket using the following process:
i) Adding some floor detergent into the mop bucket.
ii) Filling the mop bucket with hot water using the BATHROOM SINK. A smaller blue bucket is under the sink which can be used to fill the mop bucket. DO NOT use the kitchenette sink to fill the mop bucket directly as the sink is too small and the kitchenette sink is used for plates, cutlery and growlers ONLY.
iii) Mop the area where the spill has occurred, ensuring to get in all areas where the splashed liquid may have gotten too.
6. Once mopping is complete empty the mop bucket in the toilet.
Cleaning "Splash" Off Items / Shelves
If items on shelves or other items which are undamaged need to be wiped down ensure this is done immediately. Take any effected beer bottles/cans to the kitchenette sink and rinse with warm water, being mindful of any small shards which may be stuck to the bottles/cans. Wipe down any shelves / pallet racking that has had any liquid splashed on it with a warm damp chux cloth.
