Booking In-Store Tastings
Tasting are mass booked every 3 months via email. This Google Sheet lists all the reps emailed previously. Those highlighted in green booked a tasting, those in black didn't. Re-target those who didn't as we want a varied range of tastings from as many of our suppliers as possible. This also allows you to keep track of the bullet dodgers. The email should read as follows:
Hi guys,
We've been running in store tastings at Beer Cartel every Friday from 3PM to 5:30PM when there's the most foot traffic through the store and it's been going really well. I'd like to book out all the Fridays up until [3 MONTHS TIME].
We've created a booking form to save the back and forth re dates, beers to be tasted, etc. Please use the link below to pick a date:

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
[YOUR NAME]
Address the email to [email protected] and BCC it to all the chosen reps. You will probably need to send out a reminder a couple of weeks later to fill up the last of the dates.
Update the spreadsheet with those we were emailed and those who booked tastings per the last email.
Overview Of In Store Tastings
In store tastings are a great way to get customers to sample a range of beers and also assists in breweries / importers to market their range of beers.
If a rep is interested in doing a tasting, send them the link below:
https://calendly.com/beercartel
Once they have picked a day, an email notification will be sent to us and them and it added to the staff calendar.
Format of Store Tastings
Days: held on Fridays
Time: 2.5 hours from 3:00-5:30pm
Promotional Offer: it is expected that the brewery / importer will sponsor a special promotion to be offered during the tasting. Some examples of tasting offers
- buy a 6 pack and get a free glass / bottle opener.
- buy 3 x 500ml bottles and get a free 330ml bottle
NOTE: These offers are to be sponsored by the brewery / importer either by way of a credit for stock given, free stock provided or replacement stock provided to Beer Cartel.
Set Up for the Tasting
The tasting table should be set up as per the picture below with black cloth and the left door open with latch put down into floor. Also ensure you have an empty cardboard box that can be used to put empty bottles and used tasting cups.
Ideally a sales rep / brewer brings their own tasting cups, but if they do not then some of our tasting cups can be used.
After the Tasting
Make a note of the stock that was used for the tasting and any free promotional items / beers that were given away. This is used for 2 things. Firstly to see how successful the tasting was and secondly if we need to receive a credit from the brewery/importer for tasting stock this is the best way of reconciling the stock used. Write this down on the sheet attached to this page and have the sales rep / person doing the tasting sign as well acknowledging the amounts.
