To assist in shifting stock that is on/past marked code some beers are placed in Past Best Before 6 packs and cases.
The beers that are placed in this are:
- those that only have a low volume of stock past code, e.g. 6 bottles or so that don't warrant the effort to place them on special just for a handful of bottles
- those where there is a mix of fresh stock and old stock, i.e. where it is easier to just pull the old stock and use in past best before packs instead of trying to sell both concurrently on and off special based on dates.
- those that are in 330ml bottle and can format size. Larger format bottles are not placed in mix 6 / cases. These are sold separately as single bottles given the size.
In RSA the following pricing and PLU structure is applied:
- Past Best Before PLU is 14582
- This is set up as a case with pricing for case and 6 pack. There is no single price
- Stock entered is based on stock on hand so that this updates the website accordingly
On the website the following product structure is used:
- Single pricing (which has to be shown by default and cannot be hidden) is the same price as a 6pack
- Case pricing is a case of 24
- When entering orders in RSA if a customer selects "Single" this is to be entered in RSA as a 6 pack (as singles and 6 packs on the website are one in the same).
- This is done so as to avoid having two different PLUs (one for 6 packs and another for cases)
When moving stock from its normal PLU to the past best before PLU ensure you do the following:
- remove the stock from the normal product code
- add the stock to the past best before PLU (14582)
Past Best Before Dates Sold Online Before Price Has Been Changed.
If a beer has been sold online inadvertently at the normal retail price before the special price has been loaded the following should be followed:
For anything that has been missed being loaded on special and has therefore been inadvertently sold online, we offer:
- an alternative beer of similar price point
- online credit to account
- additional free beer (to similar value of the discount that would have been applied). Used for lower value beers (sub $10) and where it may be down to the last few bottles where they are all on code.
- refund to card (for the discounted amount difference or entire beer if customer does not want to take it)
The other thing to consider is how much the total order value is, as this determines how much profit is in the order.
At no point should stock be given away or sold lower than cost price unless OK by myself or Richard.
To determine how much the beer would have been reduced by (and therefore what the credit/refund/free beer value would be) visit the table on this page.
